A FIGURE AND PORTRAIT PAINTING WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
The two main objectives of this 3 day workshop is first and foremost developing stronger shape concepts, gestural interpretation (remember gesture is felt more than seen) and your visual language (your visual marks and what do they mean in relationship to graphic description). Second to push the sophistication and completeness of your paintings and remember realist painting and drawing is a total improvisational i.e. like jazz you are always working from the seat of your pants.
PLEIN AIRE WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this two day workshop are three. To improve the students ability to isolate and frame their desired focus of interest from their complex visual field; and help the student to bring more understanding and clarity to the process of translating their focus of interest from the visual field to the picture plane. The main component in this process is the "lay-in" which will be our main focus; and lastly to bring the "lay-in" to a point of finish i.e. finishing wet into wet (oil painting).
